SPACE Gallery was created 2 years ago by Todd Bernard to serve as Northern New England's most comprehensive and varied venue for contemporary, emerging and unconventional arts, artists, and ideas.

The space itself is large - with the front of the room seperated as an
entrance lobby, and the back room featuring a stage, bar, and long walls on either side to fill with imagery. They often host shows
by bands and other performance artists.

The Beautiful Mutants reception at SPACE was held during Portland's First Friday Art Walk, which attracted a large and diverse crowd to the downtown area to peruse gallery shows and other art events. A front page feature on Portland's Phoenix weekly also
helped fill SPACE with interested visitors throughout the night.

Movie scoring duties kept Mark from attending, unfortunately... but
the show was still enjoyed by many who appreciated the fact that
the show made it to Portland, ME. One young man even delayed his
move to San Francisco (via motorcycle!) a few days in order to see
the show. Another visitor had just returned from Portland, OR, where
see happened to see Mark's art show at Powell's Books in August.

Thanks to everyone at SPACE who helped make the show possible, and the reception enjoyable: Todd Bernard, Nathaniel May, Jeff Badger, Cecily Upton, and Molly Phoenix.

The show runs until October 16, 2004,
so stop by SPACE to check it out if you're in the area.
