Basil Hallward Gallery is located inside Powell's Bookstore,

the largest used and new bookstore in the world. Located in downtown Portland, Oregon and occupying an entire city block,
the store stocks more than a million new and used books.
Nine rooms house over 3,500 different sections, including
an incredible selection of out-of-print and hard-to-find titles.

Each month, BH Gallery (located upstairs in the Pearl Room)
hosts a new exhibit, as well as dozens of author events featuring acclaimed writers, artists, and thinkers such as Roddy Doyle,
Susan Sontag, Robert Olen Butler, Annie Leibovitz, and
former President Jimmy Carter.

Mark was able to attend the opening reception until about 9pm,
when he had to meet the rest of DEVO for a soundcheck for
their concert the next morning at Pioneer Courthouse Square.

The gallery was jam-packed from 6:30pm right up until Mark left
for soundcheck, and many fans were able to get Mark's signature
on a variety of different items.

Noteworthy visitors to the reception were Portland's own
The Punk Group and Canada's 80's heavymetal God
and legendary performer, Jon Mikl THOR.

The show runs through August 2004, so be sure to check it out
if you're in the area...and don't forget to pick up some good
books while you're there.
