Scion Space Gallery is located in the Culver City Arts District in a brand new 4500 square foot location, and recently hosted an exhibition of Mark Mothersbaugh's "Rugs During Wartime and Peacetime" Art.

The Wartime Rugs (Nylon) are based on Mark's Postcard Diaries. The Peacetime Rugs (Wool/Silk) represent Mark's side of the collaborative effort with wife Anita and Walteria Living.

From the catalog given out at the reception: "This show is an exploration of the imagery we choose to bring into our homes and how we interact with it for the purposes of comfort and peace-of-mind rather than an esoteric sense of art for art's sake."

The limited edition catalog for the show was made to look like a covert military handbook.

Both Mark Mothersbaugh and his wife Anita Greenspan attended the reception and talked with visitors throughout the night.

Celebrities at the event: Jason Lee, John Van Hamersveld, Gary Baseman, COOP, Nelson Lyon, Fantastic Fig (the magician), Shepard Fairey, and more.

Thanks to the Scion Space Crew: K.P., Ian, Evan, Edith for helping make this show happen.

DJ Hall played a selection of Mark's music from early DEVO to his later film score work, and everything in between.

He also played tracks from "Not Necessarily Beautiful But Mutated!", a DEVO tribute CD put together by the DEVOtees who help make the DEVOtional fan event possible every year.
