Dina Castillo, who hosted a show with Mark Mothersbaugh last year during the Homefront Invasion! tour, decided to branch out on her own to start DC Gallery in early '04. Doug Seaton is the gallery manager.

Located on Broadway in a popular section of Denver,
DC Gallery specializes
in Modern Pop Culture & Lowbrow Art,
bringing leading names in that genre to Colorado.

Reception night was filled with activity, even though Mark himself
couldn't attend due to ongoing work with Wes Anderson on the
upcoming movie,
The Life Aquatic. Things got rolling at 7pm when
DJ Dave Kerr cranked up his tables to spin old carnival music on
colored vinyl 45's. Drinks and conversation flowed throughout the
gallery until 10pm, when everyone headed down the street to The
Hi-Dive
for an afterparty hosted by Magicyclops (who also hosted
a party after Mark's show at Th'ink Tank last year). And just like
last year, Magicyclops had the Hi-Dive jumping until 2:30am
with his very entertaining iPod-powered DJ set of 80's hits.
I will never, ever be able to stomach those hits again without
having Magicyclops on stage at the same time.

The show is up until August 5th,
so check it out if you're in the area.

Hope to be able to visit my friends in Denver again soon.
