OBSESSO TOUR REPORT:

The story of how Goran and Vebjorn got to see DEVO in concert:

Gøran has been a fan for as long as I can remember, and he got me hooked after playing a couple of Devo CDs for me. He called me one day, after he had seen on clubdevo.com that they were touring Europe this summer. A bit disappointed, he told me that he probably wouldn't be able to go, since he and Trine, his fiancée, just got a kid. And their wedding was planned for Saturday, June 16th, the day the tour opened. About a month later, Trine called me and asked if I had bought him his birthday present yet.

I hadn't, so she asked me how I felt about giving him concert tickets to one of the concerts in Europe! What a girl! I loved the idea, but was afraid that the tickets were sold out. I checked Dublin first, since neither of us had been to Ireland before. My heart skipped a beat when I found out that the Dublin tickets went on sale the next morning, and after finding a nice hotel within walking distance from Vicar Street and booking the plane tickets, it was settled. This was obviously meant to be.

For the delivery of our present to Gøran, I used an old cupboard door left over after redecorating my flat. On it I made a kind of crossword puzzle for him, to be solved hangman-style. The words were Devo, Dublin, Juni (Norwegian for June), and our names, Vebjørn and Gøran. I wrapped it in a black garbage disposal bag, and brought it to the massive surprise party Trine had arranged for him. He only had a couple of letters left when he realized what it was saying, and the look on his face was priceless!

Fast forward one month to June 16th, and Gøran and Trine got happily married (with me as best man). Four days later, us boys went on our own "honeymoon" to Dublin, with Trine staying at home with their baby boy.

Yes, she is that awesome. And Thursday night we witnessed the concert of our lives! Everything from the song selection and scenography to the sound quality and lighting was just perfect. By midnight my cheeks hurt from grinning too much. This is what life is all about, and Devo kicks unbelievable ass live!
